Bayswater celebrates the double

BAYSWATER scored a convincing victory over Preston in its Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association clash on Saturday.

Chasing Bayswater's 278, Preston got off to a promising start with a 57-run opening partnership between Ben Ryan (31) and Cameron Barry (23).

However, Bayswater bowler Mark Collins soon had the home side back on track.

Preston crumbled, losing five wickets for just eight runs and was eventually bowled out for 136.

For Bayswater, Collins finished with the excellent figures of 5-36. He received good support from Tim Emmett who took 3-27.

Bayswater currently sits third on the ladder, behind Oakleigh and Mount Waverley.

* Last weekend's win was a double cause of celebration for Bayswater, after an excellent midweek performance in the opening match of the Twenty20 competition.

Bayswater put on 8-136, and bowled Endeavour Hills out for just 115.

Bayswater will now travel to Pat Wright Senior Oval, where they will take on Noble Park on Saturday.
