Wandin shows its batting prowess

22 Oct, 2008 11:18 AM
WANDIN has showed it is a force to reckon with in the Yarra Valley Cricket Association's DJ Strachan Shield with a forceful 8-340 against Woori Yallock.

Scott Hasan (40), John Aumann (69) and Paul Grayling (75) led the way for Wandin.

For Woori Yallock, Tim Diggens and Ben Hayes bowled steadily to take 4-62 and 3-55 respectively.

Healesville travelled to Gruyere for the first time in many seasons to face the newly promoted club.

Batting first, the visitors ended the day at 306 (Scott James 105, Tyson Carruthers 69; Matt Cooper 2-25, A Waixel 3-51). Gruyere Districts will need to apply enormous mental strength on Saturday in chasing down 306.

The third score of 300-plus for the day came from Mt Evelyn with 9-318cc at Warburton led by Luke Jones (99).

For Warburton Millgrove, Luke Darwall toiled well with 3-89 and supported by Trevor Ottrey with 2-34.

Silvan look to have posted a big enough score to extinguish any hopes Seville has this Saturday.

Contributors in the 7-282cc total were Sleeman (68), Mark Appleby (41), Jamie Cornford (38) and Rob DiPietrantonio (38).

At home, Yarra Junction is 1-54 at stumps in reply to Launching Place United's 91.

In the final DJSS match of the round three series, Hoddles Creek hosted Coldstream and was all out for 239 at the close of play.
