THERE'S no stopping the Upwey Ferntree Gully women's team, which chalked up its fourth win for the season on Saturday, beating Moorabbin 15-14.
The Tigers got off to an aggressive start scoring eight runs in the first inning. They then continued to capitalise on the Moorabbin pitching. Strong base running saw many stolen bases putting runners in scoring position.
Moorabbin hit back hard after two innings, stringing hits together and loading the bases. With pressure on, the Tigers came up with the outs.
Narelle Quinn pitched the full game, with two efficient innings late in the game silencing the Moorabbin bats when it was needed.
The opposition base runners had trouble reading the pitcher's pick-off move and were kept honest. The fielders were again consistent, with minimal errors.
The Tigers went into the last inning down by one run, but they fought their way back to take the win.
This Saturday, Upwey Ferntree Gully visits ladder leaders Malvern at 1pm.
